Art the Vote

Challenge:

In preparation for the 2008 elections, our client wanted to have a contest within the state of Missouri that allowed designers and artists to submit a billboard design to encourage people to vote. Users would then be allowed to vote on the winner.

Solution:

The site required multiple phases. The first phase would allow users to submit designs, and had a basic content management system for the client to approve the submissions (to make sure there wasn’t any profanity, nudity, etc.). The second phase would display all the approved submissions, while allowing users to vote up to one time a day. The third phase would turn off the voting capability and show off the first, second and third place winners. I developed all of phase one, along with the content management system. Kathy Sprehe developed all of the markup for the second and third phases while I developed all of the PHP logic for sorting, displaying  and voting.
