The Pulitzer Foundation for the Arts

Challenge:

The previous website for The Pulitzer Foundation for the Arts was a small collection of static HTML pages. TOKY was tasked with creating the information architecture and the design of the site, as well as developing a custom content management solution. TOKY collaborated with JD Hooge and Sébastien Chevrel to develop the interactive Flash on the Home Page.

Solution:

In addition to creating all of the HTML, CSS and javaScript, I also developed two XML-driven Flash pieces for the Exhibitions section and the Urban Context section. I also designed and developed a custom CMS that was created using PHP and MySQL. This CMS allows the client full access to create, delete and update content throughout the website. The CMS also generates XML files that manage the interactive Flash pieces on the Home Page and the Exhibitions page.

There have been some minor updates since the site’s launch in 2006. In particular, we have automated certain sections to use third party tools that the Foundation was already using. For instance, the Events section now ties into the clients Google Calendar and the Connect section uses their Vimeo channel to manage all their videos.
